The hydrogen sulfide had an awfully intense odour that resembled one of a rotten egg. People that lived in the Gazi area mentioned that the dominant odours of the area were: the hydrogen sulfide from the Gasworks, the animal skins from the tannery in Votanikos and…the chocolate from the Pavlidis Factory that is still operating.
